Fresno’s New Female Superintendent Pledges to Advocate for Every Student’s Needs

Upon assuming the interim superintendent position in California’s third-largest school district, Misty Her has focused on two key actions that she believes will define her tenure: active listening and continuous learning.

Having been part of the district for more than 30 years, Her has initiated a series of “listening” sessions involving various stakeholders within the Fresno Unified school community. Over the past two months, she has organized 16 sessions with a diverse group, including students, district leaders, principals, retired teachers, graduates, parents, and city officials. More such sessions are planned for the upcoming week and the ensuing school year.
