STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University has been gaining a reputation among transfer students for providing a smooth transition to university life, leading to its continued inclusion on the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll.
With an enhanced focus on student success and a wide range of career options—including new programs in cutting-edge computing technologies—MSU is acknowledged as one of the most inviting destinations for two-year college students seeking their ideal academic home within the Bulldog community.
For the fall semester of 2023, MSU welcomed 1,748 new transfer students, representing nearly 10% of the total undergraduate enrollment of 18,230 students. As the premier honor society for students pursuing associate degrees, Phi Theta Kappa aims to support transfers in their scholarly and leadership development.
Being one of the 228 institutions selected for this year’s PTK Transfer Honor Roll, Mississippi State University has secured its place for the seventh year in a row due to its exemplary admissions procedures, financial aid offerings, affordability, campus experience, and bachelor’s degree completion rates.
Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa, highlighted the institutions on the Honor Roll for simplifying the transfer process and providing accessible pathways to bachelor’s degree attainment, acknowledging their dedication to student success.
Selection for the Transfer Honor Roll is based on data analysis from the National Student Clearinghouse, renowned for its comprehensive education data analysis, and on the universities’ profiles on PTK Connect, the organization’s platform for students considering their transfer options.
John Dickerson, Associate Vice President for Enrollment at MSU, expressed his appreciation for the significant role transfer students play in the university community, commending the various departments and staff for creating a supportive environment for student achievement and well-being.
Mississippi State University is emphasizing hands-on learning opportunities more than ever before, aligning with its strategic objective of holistic student development. The newly introduced bachelor’s programs in computing technology—such as Applied Science in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence—are expanding the academic repertoire and aligning with job sectors projected to grow significantly over the next decade, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
