Harvard President Claudine Gay Steps Down After Only Six Months in Office

Harvard President Claudine Gay has announced her resignation amid accusations of plagiarism and criticism of her handling of antisemitism on campus. Gay, who became Harvard’s first Black president just six months ago, made the decision after consulting with members of the Harvard Corporation.

In a statement, Gay said, “It is in the best interests of Harvard for me to resign so that our community can navigate this moment of extraordinary challenge with a focus on the institution rather than any individual.”
