MSU recognizes outstanding graduate students and faculty mentors

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University is recognizing standout graduate students and faculty mentors for their outstanding achievements in teaching, research, and service during the academic year 2023-2024.

This year’s distinguished individuals are being celebrated for their contributions:

Top Graduate Student Advisor of the Year

—Brandon Cline, the John “Nutie” and Edie Dowdle Professor of Finance and coordinator of finance graduate programs.

Graduate Research Assistant of the Year

—Gabe Nyen, a forestry master’s student from Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

—Jiaxin Wang, a forestry doctoral student from China.

Donald Zacharias Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year

—Caroline Ferrell, a mathematics and statistics master’s student from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

—Junnatun Naym, a finance and economics doctoral student from Bangladesh.

Graduate Service Assistant of the Year

—Mallie Donald, a higher education leadership and educational psychology doctoral candidate from Edwards.

—Carley Hand, a higher education leadership and educational psychology master’s student from Hattiesburg.

Graduate Student Hall of Fame inductees

—Brantley Ballenger, a kinesiology student from Hoover, Alabama, representing the College of Education.

—Mozur Chowdhury, a comparative biomedical science student from Bangladesh, representing the College of Veterinary Medicine.

—Md Mehedi Farhad, an electrical and computer engineering student from Bangladesh, representing the Bagley College of Engineering.

—Junnatun Naym, a finance and economics student from Bangladesh, representing the College of Business.

—Jenna Russo, a psychology student from Winter Springs, Florida, representing the College of Arts and Sciences.

—Emma Schultz, a wildlife, fisheries, and aquaculture student from Silver Spring, Maryland, representing the College of Forest Resources.
