MSU Music Maker Productions: Saturday to Feature Blues Night with Watermelon Slim

STARKVILLE, Miss.—”Blues Night” is set to take place this Saturday, March 2, as Mississippi State’s Music Maker Productions presents renowned blues artist Watermelon Slim for an evening filled with music, culinary delights, and blues legacy.

This open-to-all event will kick off at 5 p.m. in Starkville’s Fire Station Park located at 503 East Lampkin Street. Watermelon Slim will hit the stage at 6 p.m., with Brother Drew warming up the crowd at 5:15 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring coolers, blankets, and seating arrangements.

Bill “Watermelon Slim” Homans boasts a remarkable resume, having clinched two Blues Music Awards, an Indie Music Award for “Blues Album of the Year,” and Canada’s Maple Blues Award for “International Artist of the Year,” among other accolades. As an advocate and Vietnam War veteran, he has garnered global acclaim for his unique slide guitar talent and vocal prowess.

In addition to a repertoire of classic blues tunes, the concert will include a “History of Blues” exhibit and a food truck for patrons to enjoy.
